Directions
From the South
Take junction 51 off the A1M signed Northallerton and Bedale. At the roundabout take the second exit (A684) signed 'Leyburn’, this is the Bedale bypass. At the next roundabout again take the 2nd turning staying on the A684 which travels up the dale to Leyburn. From there, directions from North and South are the same (see below).
From the North
At Junction 51 of the A1M head for Leeming Bar/Bedale (signed from the exit). From there, directions from North and South are the same. Bedale to Leyburn is on the A684. After Leyburn (where you may want to stop to pick up provisions) continue up Wensleydale on the A684 in the Hawes direction. It is approx. 12 miles to Askrigg. At Wensley, turn right off the A684 to Preston-under-Scar, Redmire and Castle Bolton. Descend into Redmire village after two sections of sharp bends and going under the Railway. Continue out of the village and continue on a further 7 miles, passing through Carperby and Nappa until you reach Askrigg. Follow the road through the village until you reach the stone cross, take the right fork at the cross and The Roost is the second to last cottage on your right. Parking in Askrigg is on a first come, first served basis. Areas where you should not park are clearly marked and you can usually park very close to The Roost.
From the West
You will be coming along the A684 from the Hawes direction. Continue along the A684 until you reach Bainbridge. At the junction with The Rose & Crown turn left and continue past Yorebridge House, turning right at the T junction and into Askrigg village. Continue through the village until you see the stone cross, turn left at the cross and The Roost is the second to last cottage on your right. Parking in Askrigg is on a first come, first served basis. Areas where you should not park are clearly marked and you can usually park very close to The Roost.
From the East
If you are East of the A1, make your way to the Leeming Bar/ Bedale junction (junction 51) of the A1 and follow directions as for South and North (above).
